KENTUCK KNOB’S TOUR POLICY FOR CHILDREN

We appreciate your desire to share Kentuck Knob with your children, and we will do our best to see that everyone benefits from the experience of this extraordinary house and art collection. We have learned that our tours are most appropriate for children aged 6 and older. They are able to absorb much of the information, and their attention span is sufficient to retain interest in what is being said.

On the other hand, we have found that it is unrealistic and unfair to expect children younger than 6 to remain quiet and attentive for the duration of the one-hour tour. Children often become bored and restless, resulting in behavior that is disruptive and annoying to other guests on the tour, and to the guides.

We understand that many families traveling with small children wish to see Kentuck Knob, and we do not want to disappoint them. Since we have no daycare facility, we require that children under 6 remain at the Visitor Center under the supervision of a responsible adult. We suggest that parents take separate tours, freeing one parent to stay with the children while the other parent enjoys the house.

We permit children age 6 and older to tour the home, but only within the following parameters:

  • Each child will be closely supervised by an adult while on the property

  • If the child needs attention, is noisy or disruptive, or disturbs the guide and other guests in any way, the adult and child will be escorted from the house and driven to the Visitor Center

  • No food or drinks of any kind are permitted in the house by children or adults

  • There will be no refunds or rain checks issued in the event that your tour cannot be completed due to disruptive behavior by your child
